Meet Our Brewer Weedy

2022-09-26T21:18:19-07:00

I was psyched when we locked in the perfect building for the brewery. Our contractor has killed it with the build thus far. I was particularly thrilled when our beautiful equipment arrived, and now that we're on the verge of brewing, I couldn't be happier with how the brewery is shaping up, irritating delays notwithstanding. None [...]

Equipment!

2022-09-26T21:18:19-07:00

The truck that was supposed to arrive at 10am and the one that was supposed to arrive at noon were both sitting at the brewery when Bob, the general contractor, went to the brewery around 7am. Considering that it was dusk by the time we ended up calling it a day, an earlier-than-expected morning was [...]

Preparation for Equipment Delivery Day

2022-09-26T21:18:19-07:00

Things have been moving at a crazy pace. There's been all sorts of plumbing and electrical progress: We even built a giant door for our cooler: And then installed said door: Here it is with a water bottle to show scale: Did I mention it was enormous? We laid slab and placed our boiler, chiller, [...]

Behold Our Ridiculous Floor

2022-09-26T21:18:19-07:00

It's seemed like the floor has been the cause all of our biggest problems so far. First it was the drains that set us back. More recently, it's been the epoxy grout for the quarry tile we're using. The wait has been excruciating, especially knowing that our brewing system is sitting on trucks somewhere in Canada. [...]

All Sorts of Progress

2022-09-26T21:18:19-07:00

It's probably been the busiest couple of weeks yet. The most dramatic event by far was the arrival of the chiller: It started with a call at 2pm on Monday from a nice lady who asked me if we could unload the shipment today or if they needed to wait until tomorrow. A mad scramble [...]

I Could Watch This Guy All Day Long

2022-09-26T21:18:19-07:00

I'm starting a brewery. I really shouldn't be envying how much fun someone else is having at their job: Every start involved a wheelie or some spinning tires. I'd never challenge this guy to a go-cart race, that's for sure. The video doesn't do his skills justice. On top of that, holes are filled, there are [...]

RIP Ugly Walk-In Cooler

2022-09-26T21:18:19-07:00

Not only was the walk-in an eyesore, but it wasn't going to serve its intended purpose very well either. Almost a complete rebuild was in order, along with new insulation:       And finally, the world's ugliest walk-in cooler is no more:     It might actually look nice when it's finished.

Making a Mess

2022-09-26T21:18:19-07:00

It's been a busy couple of weeks. The new pony wall separating the tap room from the brewery started to go up right after holes got dug for what will soon be new trench and spot drains and updated underground plumbing:     The wall is done (on the brewery side, at least), but the [...]

Walls!

2022-09-26T21:18:19-07:00

With demolition and plans done and permission from the city to start some work, it's time for the wash-down walls in the brewing area to go up and for the walk in to get a complete rebuild. Here's the newer, taller cooler door: And the start of the walls: More walls: Another view: This little [...]

And a Bit More Demolition…

2022-09-26T21:18:19-07:00

Now you can see all the way to the back: And light reaches what will soon be the brewhouse: Next step, a new half-wall and flooring!
